How do you get gems fast?

Sorry if this seems like a nooby question, but getting gems seems pretty hard. Is there any other way to get gems fast, other than mining/buying?

The offering well helps some, but there isn't a huge shortcut to wealth that you're missing. Stay away from supply drops and keep making wise choices. As you level up you get some gems too. The stronger your ship is, you can destroy larger guardian groups quicker. These give more and better parts which can be sold or traded for gems. Speaking of trading, in the future it might become possible to make lots of gems without much grinding by making wise investments in parts. But currently you can't make gems quick without grinding or paying.

@C92643 Can't
add much there. Great answer.
(what little i can add:
There seems to be some kind of cap on direct gem gain, so permanently farming for gems will give you less than f.e.: logging in every now and then and killing a few wrecks.
Later on you will be able to kill larger mines with decent speed. Doing that with a parts-buff on is a great way of making gems, and saving gems for parts you would otherwise have to buy.
Short answer:
In the long run doing medium offerings will only benefit you. Large offerings as well, but they will cost you 38k credits per 25 offerings (or per hour). Didn’t test small, but I expect it to be similar to medium. In the short term, if you do them hourly, you will have multiple hours where you only loose gems, some hours when you gain or loose almost nothing and some few hours far in between when you gain enough to make it worthwhile gem-wise and in other regards.
Long answer:
Only thing that comes to mind: If you still find yourself in need of pretty regular parts AND you find yourself with about 500 gems on a regular basis (or you just don’t spend them)((and i know these 2 conditions together are pretty much mutually exclusive)), but if it still happens i would recommend taking up Medium Offerings and doing them RELIGIOUSLY! 25 every hour whenever online.
I will make a post on my statistics some day. For now suffice to say with 8000+ large offerings and 2500+ medium i lost no gems on either.
Now if you count that you still need parts which most big players don't, parts that i got and counted at sell value you could count at buy value or somewhere in between, your gem count will be (greatly) positive. I also counted all crew at minimal sales value at 5 stars (which means you have to level them to 5 stars if you want those gems). So common at 50 gems, rare 90, ultra at 130 and the exception to the rule is legendaries whom i counted at 185 gems instead of the min value of 170. (because i never sell them) (remember you can get common crew with a value of 80 gems instead of 50 as well (at 5 stars)so my gem gain/hour is a low calculation.)
Medium offerings will also give you on average 23k credits and 3100 xp per hour, whereas large ones will give you 3500 xp but take 38k credits. So consider if you really have too much credits.
Oh and they are a great way to get cores if you have troubles there. 0.4 hourly cores on large and 1.5 on medium.
Also i might wanna add that offerings are a great way to get exclusive (parts), crew and drones which are otherwise hard to obtain (supply drops or Levi)
Oh, and of course, you might spawn a Leviathan – Lucky you and Congrats! Great loot on those if you manage to do some damage. (I got 25 Leviathans on 8070 large offerings and 5 on 2640 medium offerings)
Please do mind, that with only 2600 entries on my medium offerings the values are a lot less reliable than my large offerings. Even so, hourly gem count still varies between 4-0 gems on large and about 3-0 gems on medium.)

Don't worry, the stronger you get, the more sanctioned you are. I did a test that was terrifying. God_electro has confirmed that he was here two weeks ago and I can talk to him.

@andre1 I think so too and I understand this in the game, but I can't prove it, but with statistics. This test used this feature? Can you tell me more about that?

ah ok. well first off: WE are way off topic. I dont like to talk about
Secondly, I think, if you have a game thats as close to open ended as this one you have to have some caps aka. limits. And i personally prefer soft caps ( increasing difficulty) way over hard caps. Thats exactly what i would do if i returned to programming my game....make the soft caps harder and harder so you can never even see the hard cap in the end. So i agree with what goldfiredoes, if and when they make training crew tougher and toughwr or if they have their reasons to do it to races so be it.

up to - 40% less in the team race is not a cap but an extreme disadvantage for players who have played their way up

I really believe that it is not a game cap, but a bug that I even reported about 1 year ago and has not yet been fixed.
When you are in a race, you destroy a mine and it shows that you got 2500 crystals, you will be very lucky if you get 1800 crystals. Visualize your score before and after collecting the crystals to understand what I'm talking about.

@Riptides If you refer to scoring in races, XP has nothing to do with it. I can guarantee you this. What I am saying is about a game bug that is not counting correctly the values shown when a mine is destroyed.

The points awarded in races refer to the crystals collected and harvested. Crystals lying around or left behind are not paid. you can somewhat block your race opponent with your own crystals that you drop, as they are not paid for
everything already tested ... i have for example invested over 500 euro per ship, but even though i am twice as strong, someone makes twice as many points in the race as me - this has to do with the fact that you can buy the crew, but not the experience value of each crew member - example : you will not be able to beat a level 300+ user like OldBigLion, unless you have the same crew and the same level. ( and the same fields ).
a captain who has 5 stars and 8.6 % will have 80 levels further 12.5 % and now comes a calculation how the 115 % maximum the captains are calculated in total .
this is not a bug but you can not program every variable in the game this is at the expense of computing power per user.
then I have by chance because a friend also wanted to play here want to help her at the beginning and her 250,000 crystals collected and sent ( I discard - she could collect ) alone 5 levels up and put on the first Leviathan span : Levi Pilot Pot.
that's not a coincidence, because the experience, which is also crew-members more burdened and generated by each threatening mission, is the decisive criterion for the award of gems, parts or gifts in the leviathan fight. that's why you get more parts when you fight the levi in pairs than in 10, because that has to do with how fast the levi dies. if you take a long time, the gifts are great - too fast : not much --.
.... if it's up to me all levi chats should be deleted
only with experience also increases the level ...
