So, i think i am not re-inventing the wheel here, the idea has been out there i guess but still:

Offering to trade any parts you don't need for parts you want. This goes out to new players mainly. You may of course find players elsewhere (maybe your squad) who will do this for you.

IMPORTANT EDIT:
Sometimes, when you drop parts to the ground they do get put someplace else on the map, and not under your ship. So PLEASE, before you drop any parts, drop a few crystals. If they do get displayed underneath your ship, DO NOT MOVE and drop the parts to trade. The parts of 2 players did disappear this way, or they just didn't drop them. I gave them my part anyways, but I AM NOT doing that any more.


Here is how it works:

You can only trade parts that you mined, so that you got dropped from a mine or wreck and mined with your drone. Then DO NOT put it into your storage - ONCE it is in the storage you CANT trade it. it is yours to stay. so go to your cargo hold or scrap yard,  have a look at the part. if you don't like the look or you really needed a drone bay instead of a cargo hold DONT store it, DONT install it. KEEP it in your cargo hold.
Come to me and ask me for what you need. I might have it, might have to mine for it for a bit. Then we meet someplace, both drop our item on the ground and swap.

This way, you can save a lot of money. Instead of selling a cargo hold you don't need for 20 gems each and buying a 100 gem drone bay or such, you can trade with me for gem sales value. That means 1 drone bay for 1 cargo bay. or 2 deco parts for one cargo bay.
More to the point, most players sell any deco parts they dont want for 10 gems each. Then you buy a drone bay f.e. for 100 gems. Wouldnt it be smarter to trade 2(or 3) deco parts for 1 drone bay?

This should help a lot of you small players to save some gems. Of course, I do realize that in the early stages mining a part almost never happens. Sadly, there is no other way to do this.

I will do this for free for everyone below lvl 50 (1:1). Beyond that i think 2:3 is appropriate. (This is not even because i wanna get rich of you, but recently answering all noob questions and similar stuff like this have taken overhand, and it really eats into my play and farmingtime. (and 10 min farming can be up to 10 parts for me, if lucky))

Oh. and only offering these rates for regular parts. You can request some exclusive items, if i should happen to stumble across them we can talk cash. Cl92 got dibbs on first 6x Cargo bay. 

GEM Values:
Deco / Armor part per tile 10 gems.
Drone bay, Cargo hold, Crew Compartment per tile 20 gems.

Find me in game, friend me, and lets see what we can do.

This goes for just about any stronger player, honestly. I have a cargo half full of parts i'm willing to trade, and I wouldn't be surprised if many other people did too.

Oh yes, I have hundreds of parts and I trade a lot. I'm working on some projects in this area which should make trading in exocraft much more convenient. (Edit: to be clear I'm not actually changing the game or how you interact with the game in any way, which I can't do, just building things to facilitate easier trading). Hopefully they're ready in the next few weeks. Until then, I'll post my trading guide, which gives people a general idea what to expect with trading in exocraft, and how to avoid or deal with common trading issues. I might also post a price sheet. Notably, I'm buying single drone bays for a higher price lately, 22 gems each, and I'm selling double non-misc. a bit cheaper than usual (still fine tuning prices a bit). So if anyone's saving up parts consider selling me your single drone bays and a few other items.

@Riptides Buying and selling in bulk i would guess, multiplication tends to solve these problems nicely

@Riptides I keep a record of what I owe people or what they owe me, so the small amounts can add up. Also if you want to get rid of the <10 gems difference you can use a random event. For example, you can pay 5 gems by flipping a coin and paying 10 gems if you get heads and 0 gems if you get tails. But you'd use a source of randomness that you can both agree on.
