PSA: do not make long skinny ships

Try to design your ship so that the loss of any one part will not make you lose lots of other parts. You can get them restored at the shipyard but it'll cost you.
And you lose any drones and cargo that the parts were holding as well. You can get drones restored, but again, it'll cost you.
(Edit: originally this said you'd lose crew members as well, but those are smart enough to escape on their own and can just be put back on once you repair the ship.)

@Lisimba Are you sure, that we can get the crew killed? I believe, at least once I have lost the crew cabin, but my crew has not been affected, except that 1 crewman has been moved from active to inactive. Could be an effrect a bug, ofc.

@Lisimba once a crew cabin has been desrtoyed, the crew member just goes from active service to inactive service

yes u do not lose the crew ....however ...those long or wide ships with single parts are about the worst design u can use ...he is 100% correct

I advise my squad and friends to always ensure that to the best of practicality every component has at least 2 connected anchor points.
I know of 2 players that have now quit after losing all or most of their ship due to their design error.
I also lost all of my ship bar the pod due to this mistake but i was below level 20 at the time so still had the opportunity to ‘reset’ and start again with the 1000 gems boost.

@Lisimba, @Lycarri2 has over 7k defence (if i remember correctly)... hes also mentioned that nothing has died in 3 months...

It goes well until it goes wrong. Even with high defense, if you ever forget to replace a part before it hits 0 durability, it pops. If that happens to a part near the center it's still a major disaster.

Did not know this was a mechanic - that detached parts just die. Will absolutely avoid this. Thanks!

@X27 They do not 'die' as such.... they are available to restore at the Hangar....but it may cost you more than you can afford.
If this does happen below level 20 you may be wish to consider simply resetting game from the lower left icon menu as resetting below level 20 gifts you with 1000 gems to get started again ( this time with the knowledge gained from previous mistakes )

I’ve seen that beast in the field, drool.
Isn’t there an edit test for pilot pods? I hit an error message once but once only

You can have one tile of pod per 4 tiles of other stuff, except when you hit 50 total tiles in your ship, then you can have one extra (so 11 pod tiles on 50 total).
